WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE Transportation

Transportation services are available throughout Chicago and the suburbs. Here at Special Needs Chicago, we offer non-emergency transit for seniors and people with disabilities and seniors in wheelchair accessible vehicles 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We also offer long distance and out-of-state transports upon request.

Drivers and customer service staff will happily provide you with a safe, relaxing ride, door-to-door assistance, and a simple reservation process. Specially equipped medicars, handicapped vans, mini-buses and full-size buses  will get you, loved ones, patients or clients around Chicagoland with ease.

Each customer will be met by their driver on the ground level at the front of their home or the public lobby of the building where they are picked up or dropped off (when feasible).  Please note that the customer's family members, guardians and/or caregivers are responsible for getting the customer up and down all stairs.  We are happy to provide information about local businesses that have ramps and elevator equipment for sale or rent.  You may also contact your local fire department and see if they are available for carry-down/up service to provide you with access to the ground level for your transportation.

Anyone with a disability or a circumstance that requires special assistance is welcome to use our paratransit service. We can easily coordinate standing orders (regularly scheduled rides), group outings, or transports for medical, business or personal reasons.

“Quality of service” is the Number One reason our corporate clients and private riders cite for choosing Special Needs Chicago repeatedly. We always treat our customers with courtesy and respect while providing prompt and safe transportation.

Our services include additional steps such as multiple levels of communication, confirmation calls, and written correspondence. These extra steps have a significant impact on decreasing no-shows and increasing customer service. We take very wonderful care of our clients, putting riders and their families at ease knowing that one of the dozens of details regarding their loved one’s care is in good hands.

Corporate clients and private pay individuals hire us for wheelchair and ambulatory transportation for many reasons, including:

Day Programs

Your safety, comfort, and timeliness during transport are our priorities. Wheelchair accessible medivans are professionally maintained on a regular basis to provide the highest levels of reliability. Vehicles are meticulously cleaned and sanitized for your well-being and peace of mind.

Our transportation service differs from wheelchair van rental in the Chicago area. You are driven by professionals who have trained to work with seniors and individuals with disabilities. You can relax while the drivers do the driving.

Transportation is available throughout the Chicago metropolitan area, which includes Cook, DuPage, Kane, Will, Lake, McHenry, DeKalb, Kendall, and Grundy Counties in Illinois, and Lake County in Indiana. Advance reservations are suggested but “last-minute” service is provided based on availability.
